چکیده

This paper presents a constructive method to (sub)optimal finite impulse response (FIR) approximation of a given infinite impulse response (IIR) model. The method minimizes the Hankel norm of approximation error by using the explicit solution of norm−preserve dilation problem. It has the advantage over the existing methods that it provides an explicitly constructive solution and allows the trade−off between the Chebyshev and least square criteria. The lower and upper bounds on the $lî2$ and Chebyshev norms of approximation error are given. The effectiveness and properties of the proposed algorithm are demonstrated through a computation example.

Performance Assessments of Fir versus Iir Models in Acoustic Echo Cancellation

The adequateness of IIR models for acoustic echo cancellation is a long standing question and the answers found in the literature are connicting. We use results from rational Hankel norm and least-squares approximation and we recall a test which provides a priori performance levels for FIR and IIR models. We apply this test to measured acoustic impulse responses. Upon comparing the performance ...

Low-Order State-Space Models of Head-Related Transfer Function Arrays

Low-order state-space models of collections of head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) are described and found to yield a substantial computational savings relative to conventional filter arrays. Several recent binaural displays model multiple HRTFs simultaneously using an array of independent FIR or IIR filters. As HRTFs are locally redundant it is possible to model collections of HRTFs with a...

Optimal Hankel Norm Approximation for the Pritchard-salamon Class of Infinite-dimensional Systems

The optimal Hankel norm approximation problem is solved under the assumptions that the system (A, B, C) is an exponentially stable, regular Pritchard-Salamon innnite-dimensional system. An explicit parametrization of all solutions is obtained in terms of the system parameters A, B, C.
